What are Simple Machines? Who is Rube Goldberg? Students will be challenged to create Rube Goldberg inventions (a series of simple machines that accomplish a simple task) using found objects, collected materials and recyclables! Working in groups, they will be given a task that the machine must complete as well as the minimum number of steps that must go into their machines. Depending on the age of the students, the parameters of the project is altered. Inventions could be as simple as a mouse trap taking up the space of a picnic table and as complicated as one that includes of the pulley systems on one of our ropes courses!
